Making the Connection: GBV and Nutrition Programming

June 5 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

A look at the role of nutrition organizations in the prevention and mitigation of gender-based violence

We cannot end malnutrition without putting an end to gender inequalities and gender-based violence (GBV), as both causes and consequences of hunger. Acknowledging the very real effects of social norms that create and perpetuate gender inequalities, as well as their impact on our ability to meet nutritional needs. Gender equality is a fundamental condition to the full realization of human rights for all, including sexual and reproductive health rights.

Join Action Against Hunger and sector experts for an interactive discussion on the role of nutrition organizations in the prevention and mitigation of GBV. The reception-style event will include an exhibit of stories from Palestinian women living in the Gaza Strip that underscore the links between food insecurity and gender inequality. This interactive photo series by award-winning Palestinian photographer Wissam Nassar presents a captivating and provocative portrait of an at-risk community that has lived for more than 10 years behind a land, air, and sea blockade.

RSVP requested by 4 June.

Light appetizers provided with cash bar available.
